This site is published by Hussain & Gunaratne. It is a small archive of the practice’s work. It has no shop, no accounts, no newsletter and no comments, and it carries no advertising. It does measure how the site is used, which is set out below.

The site itself asks you for nothing and stores nothing about you. As with any website, the server that hosts it keeps a short-lived log of requests, which includes your IP address, the page requested, the time, and your browser’s user agent. These logs are kept only to run the site securely and are not used to build a profile of you.

If you agree to the measuring described below, Google Analytics sets cookies on your browser so that several pages viewed in one sitting are counted as one visit rather than several. Until then it sets none. Vimeo may set cookies of its own, but only once you have pressed play on a film. WordPress sets cookies only for people who log in to edit the site. No cookies here are used for advertising.

You are asked, once, before any of this begins, and nothing is measured unless you say yes. If you said no, nothing is loaded from Google at all and no analytics cookie is set. Your answer is kept in your own browser, so clearing this site’s stored data will simply have us ask again. If you said yes: visits are measured with Google Analytics, so the practice can see which work is being looked at and how people arrive. It records the pages you view, roughly where in the world you are, and the kind of device and browser you are using. Your IP address is used to work that out and is not stored by Google Analytics. Nothing recorded identifies you by name, the data is not sold or used for advertising, and it is not joined up with anything you have sent the practice directly.

The typefaces are served by Adobe Fonts (Typekit). Your browser requests them from Adobe, which means Adobe receives your IP address and the address of the page you are viewing. Adobe states that it does not use this data to profile or advertise to visitors. The images are served from this site. The films are hosted by Vimeo, which is covered in the next section.

The films on this site are hosted by Vimeo and play in a Vimeo player. Nothing is requested from Vimeo until you press play: before that you see only a still image served from this site. Once you press play, your browser loads the player from Vimeo, which receives your IP address and the address of the page you are watching from, and Vimeo may set cookies on your browser. The player is asked not to track you, which Vimeo honours by not using the visit for its own analytics or advertising. What Vimeo does with that information is covered by Vimeo’s own privacy policy.

The stills and film on this site are the artists’ own work and archive material, and are shown by permission. They are not a public library: please ask before reproducing them.

Because the site holds no personal data about visitors, there is normally nothing to access, correct or erase. If you have written to the practice directly, you may ask what has been kept, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
